Arlene was raised in the Northwest Territories, her first position after college (Red Deer) was as a deputy sheriff with the itinerant court (Supreme Court) in the Northwest Territories; Arlene initially took conflict resolution training with the Justice Institute of BC while working for the Government of the NWT. Arlene obtained her law degree later at the University of Calgary, was called to the Alberta bar in 2006 and the NWT in 2010.

Arlene’s general practice is comprised of Wills and Estates, Adult Guardianship, and Real Estate along with arbitration and administrative law. Arlene has been a member of the Alberta Arbitration and Mediation Society since 1994. She acted as Arbitrator for the Canadian motor vehicle arbitration Plan since 1994. Arlene obtained her chartered arbitrator status from the Alternative Dispute Resolution Institute of Canada in 2012. She has acted as presiding officer and panel member for several administrative tribunals at the municipal and provincial level. In participating on various tribunals Arlene has written over 300 decisions on a variety of issues.
